Welcome to Creekside Oaks Elementary School!Top of Page

August 2018

Dear Community of Empowered Students,

Our vision for Creekside Oaks Elementary is to increase achievement for all students.  In doing this, students will develop academic skills, become critical thinkers, build relationships, and foster life skills while using collaboration, growth mindset, active engagement, and technology.  Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all play an important role in increasing academic achievement for our students.  It is my sincere desire to lead the collaboration to reach this vision.First, I would like to reflect on some of the accomplishments of the last school year.  Through your support, the PTO, and school funds we added Chromebook’s to the campus, increased school safety through the addition of security cameras, all teachers were TESS trained, we implemented AVID at Creekside, and focused on the Growth Mindset for all students. This all occurred while continuing the outstanding programs like the Bucket Brigade, Recess Rangers, Youth Development Institute, Music Programs, NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), and Leadership class, to name a few.  We are excited to start this year by continuing with excellent academic programs while adding our new community build playground on October 13th.

Our school’s leadership team and teachers have worked hard this summer to help continue the tradition of excellence here at Creekside Oaks Elementary School.  In this, they have been planning new curriculum and taking time to be trained in new education practices.  This included many teachers being trained in AVID, TESS, and YDI.

For this school year we are asking that students wait in front of the school until the 7:55 bell rings.  We had a bunch of incidents that happened before school on campus last year.  Until 7:55 we don’t have anyone on duty and this creates a safety and liability issue for the school.  So again please have students wait until the first bell rings.  The exceptions to this will be the first two days of school when everyone comes early, morning events, and for students who eat breakfast in the cafeteria.

Our goal is to continually improve our ability to effectively communicate with parents and meet the diverse needs of all of our students.  During the upcoming year we will be meeting with parents, students, and staff to identify specific goals in the areas of student achievement, school climate, and parent communication/participation. I invite you to be a part of one of the teams like the PTO or School Site Council to help shape the future of our school.  This year I hope to fill your bucket as the principal of Creekside Oaks!  You can call me at (916) 645-6380 or email me at rpenders@wpusd.org.  My office door is always open, as well, so please stop by if you need anything or just want to say, “Hi”.

Respectfully,

Reno Penders, Principal
